This Doesn't Work

When the body becomes a hurdle, there exists a fracture between ourselves and the flesh we are wrapped in. The struggle to keep moving with a failing body is the spirit behind this painting. There is so much to do, and yet the body will only allow you to go so far. My experience with diabetes is a never-ending battle between me and my body. Some days, nothing works, and we are separate entities with our own needs to look after, while other days, we are somehow synchronized in rhythm. This cycle exists in everyone, and yet we praise the times we overcome our bodies to keep going and not the instances we have to pause, sit down, and renegotiate the terms between ourselves and the body that harbors us. The time we take to hear ourselves may give us another day of synchronization in the future- a time when our body and mind work as one, working towards the same goal.
